Over the last several days Sony have removed all mentions of the Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Remake from its social accounts and YouTube channels.

Announced as a PlayStation 5 console exclusive the game was being developed by Aspyr Media before they had the project taken away and it was handed to Saber Interactive.

Since then the parent company of both studios, Embracer Group has been restructuring to save cash which resulted in the closure of Saints Row developer Volition.

Sony removing all mentions of the game is a bigger worry though as they were publishing the game.

So while there has been no official announcement of the games cancellation it’s safe to assume we may never get to actually play it.

I’ve probably played and modded KOTOR so many times. It is indeed a fun game.

I can’t speak for everyone, but I was excited for a remake because it would have allowed these creators of AAA games to get in the habit of creating a good experience.

A good story driven universe that would have made them say: Maybe we should make our own version.

At least this seems to be what Ubisoft is doing. I doubt EA will even consider a KOTOR remake until someone else earns a tremendous amount of money first.

Even on a hit title like KOTOR.

I have returned to both games several times. Some of the modern emulations break the gameplay mechanics, like the speeder racing bit. But othwrwise it’s a blast to travel the stars with the old crew. I was looking forward to doing it again on a PS5.
