I mainly used social media to follow the news but now I am thinking of getting a RSS app and using feeds to follow news. All suggestions are appreciated :)

Well… not lemmy.world/c/world that is for sure. I’d check the mod logs for any community you find to see how bias they are about reporting the news and which comments they allow and dont allow.

I didn’t know Lemmy let us view mod activity logs. The fediverse fucking rocks
Im not sure. But worldnews@lemmy.world removed all comments on a post about Israeli transgressions in Palestine, and then they locked the post.
There were some inflammatory comments but the majority were pretty normal and neutral statements based on fact. But the mods removed all comments.
So I would steer clear of them.
Edit: maybe not steer clear, just be aware of what is happening there.
