Okay, I’ve changed my mind. Lets post movie ideas. Just a casual strawpoll to see what kinds of movies people like around here.
The only rule is to post (or repost) movies you actually have a plan to watch in this WatchParty community. Obviously opinions can change but just be honest about where you feel today.
- The Music Man (1962)
- Young Frankenstein (1974)
- Lawrence of Arabia (1962)
- Shazam: Fury of the Gods (2023)
- Edge of Tomorrow (2014)
- That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Scarlet Bond (2023)
- My Adventures With Superman, Episodes 1 and 2 (2023)
Not all movies are top tier… I don’t expect all of them to be good. But all movies I listed here are something I’m curious enough about to watch here, in this watch-party community.
Great post, I love Edge of Tomorrow! Here’s my first stab at a list, in no particular order.
- Hot Fuzz (2007)
- Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994)
- Cocaine Bear (2023)
- Battleship (2012)
- Shawshank Redemption (1994)
- Almost Heroes (1998)
Hmm, there’s multiple “purposes” to watch parties.

Selecting the movie ahead of time could draw in fans (especially as we cross-post to specific communities. Ex: I’ll definitely crosspost to the anime-lemmies if we choose an anime-film, but I wouldn’t do so if I chose Lawrence of Arabia).
-
Selecting a movie as late as possible could make “selecting a time” easier (ex: people who just wanna hang out with a crowd online at a specific hour of the week, and don’t really care too much about the movie in particular).
The rules as currently written for this forum favor #1. #2 could be beneficial as well though.
I’m going to expand the time frame to post an announcement from 6-12 hours to 2-12 hours. This would provide some flexibility if you’ve got some unexpected free time, or you’re just in the mood to host a party on somewhat short notice. I’m also going to expand the time frame for creating the live thread from 1 hour prior to show time, to 30-60 minutes prior. We’ll see how those changes play out, I think it provides a balance of enough time for people to join in on the conversation if they want to, but not too short of a notice that that they’re going to have to scramble to find the movie and just throw their hands up in frustration.
