Five years is a long ass time in prison.
I’m not defending this scumbag at all, but being locked up is not a good time.
Florida Statute Section 787.01 imposes a mandatory minimum of 4 years for kidnapping and a maximum of up to life imprisonment. 5.5 years is just shy of the bare minimum he could have gotten.
The length of imprisonment directly correlates with the perceived value of the victim.
And I hate it.
