    They’ll get paid eventually, they always do. It’s not a vacation, it’s an unscheduled staycation.

      You think during a shutdown people don’t have to work, but still get paid?

      Maybe if they’re able to take leave, but that still their leave. And taking it now means they can’t take it when they want to. Taking off for a shutdown might mean they can’t take off around the holidays, they might not even have leave to take. Some like the VA don’t even have that option. They have to keep working regardless of if they’re getting paid.

      It’s not “free days off” like so many people who’ve never worked a day in their lives for the government keep saying.

        Yes they will get paid eventually. They put that into law after 2019. If you are furloughed, you cannot use leave. Even if you are emergency essential and still working during the shutdown, I don’t believe that you can be paid for leave (but you can still take it if it was scheduled before the shutdown).
