I’m not one of them, but if you only want opinions that match your own then what’s the point?

Its not about wanting to hear opinions that match my own. Its about not wanting to hear obvious trolls, like the guy claiming the republicans that voted against this are far-left extremists, or the guy talking about how were funding Nazis and being Russophobic. They are very clearly not sensible comments made in good faith.

Because he’s implying there are no actual troll accounts and I’m just angry that people disagree with me, when that’s not the case. Lots of comments here are obvious troll posts

Honestly, not trying to be argumented here, but I think sometimes it is exactly just that, people using the excuse of ‘obvious troll’ to block, and not examine what they’re doing themselves more fully.

It also seems to be more of a generational thing, though it could be more of a bot thing, trying to shape the narrative (“Block those who do not think like how we want you to think you!”), which is a more recent phenomenon.

Sometimes maybe, but when someone is claiming that all the republican senators that voted agains this are far-left extremists, im not going to accept that as a good faith argument.

It also seems to be more of a generational thing, though it could be more of a bot thing, trying to shape the narrative (“Block those who do not think like how we want you to think you!”), which is a more recent phenomenon.

Yes, people have learnt how to deal with bad faith actors.
