Republican Alabama legislators advanced a new congressional map Monday with just one majority-Black district, seemingly spitting in the eye of the Supreme Court which had just sent it back to the drawing board.
Does anyone know what exactly happens next if they pass this map? The supreme court wrote that at least two districts need to be majority black but if Alabama ignores this what next steps can be taken considering the Supreme Court is supposed to be…you know supreme
Nothing happens. They run out the clock until the next election. If Trump wins then it sounds like they won’t need to worry about it. If Trump loses… they still got a few more years of majority for no cost. note: I’m not a legal expert, just a disillusioned American.
side note: life expectancy in Alabama is literally on par with North Korea and Libya (AL is slightly worse, actually). These leaders do not care about their people.
