"The EU’s role in the world is gradually growing, but it is not nearly as strong as its population and economic power would suggest,” the Czech minister said.

“I know that it is not at all popular. I think that a European Federation or a United States of Europe would only put Europe in a position where we would be a truly equal partner in the game between China, America, or Russia and India,” he added.

This is quite true. Also not easy to achieve. But I’m still hoping to see it in my lifetime. After all I already saw the opening of the borders and a common currency being launched, those weren’t easy either. We’re closer now to a federation than ever before. Let’s vote passionately next year in the European elections 🗳️🇪🇺

Agreed and here’s why. Europeans will not be able to deal with the state of constant cognitive dissonance that is the hallmark of a properly functioning federation.

You should be. I also believe he’s on the right track. Hopefully his input will resonate with others, and help shape a better and more secure future.

I think many countries are too nationalistic for this to happen in the near future.

What kind of power he wants to achieve? Economic domination and imperialism or an Union that benefits its people over the market. Already in EU there’s an unhealthy competition between territories for market shares and profits. Corporations and multinational are driving change towards pauperization and climate disaster throughout Europe, Democratic avenue are more and more limited with media concentration and the forces of lobbying. A federation would only streamline that process by privileging economic power and authoritarian order over the interest of people and the planet.

Already in EU there’s an unhealthy competition between territories for market shares and profits. Corporations and multinational are driving change towards pauperization and climate disaster throughout Europe (… etc)

This is quite a statement and generalisation. How do you come to this conclusion? As far as I see it, it’s the (right winged) nationalism & regionalism and or (Sino-Russian) propaganda/rhetoric that has been causing problems of late.

Many regulations the EU has forwarded are impossible to achieve on national or regional level.
Expecially concerning emissions and climate issues and nature conservation. And talking about company’s profit, as long as national countries enable tax evasion, the rich will become richer. So there’s been a New law EU law proposal so the richer people & companies will always have to pay taxes.

These past years it was the EU that’s been stopping market dominance and securing a more healthy competition, consumers security & privacy. I don’t know where you’ve been living, but your standard must be pretty high. Tell me more about your Walhalla, and how I get a visa.

Also there are many kinds of federations, so " he " nor anyone else has specified or could specify what kind of federation is going to be formed. It’s just an intent or direction, if you will.

What does Europe want that they can’t get just by being a friend of the US? Together they have the power, and the US is not perfect.

However there is a great cost the US pays to be a global power. By being in NATO and friends with the US Europe gets most of what a modern liberal (classical liberal which has nothing to do with the political term liberal) countey wants from being a power and they don’t deal with the resentment that the powerful face.

Note being in Europe I don’t have any direct role. However I urge those of you who are to think carefully . Things are not perfect now, but they won’t be perfect after Europe asserts itself more either. You have to take the good with the bad, is the good of the change worth it,

I don’t know why you mention USA, and also the NATO for that matter, when the issue is about the federation of EU? It has nothing to do with USA relations.

Also, FYI, the USA wants and urge EU to be stronger.

And, I don’t see the EU leaving NATO in the foreseeable future. There has only been an increase in NATO membership, so no worries mate.
