Thank you for all your feedback on my @SamXavia account in my previous post about why you prefer Kbin, it really opened up my mind on why Kbin might be the better option.
Since I posted it I’ve learned a bit more about Kbin but would love to keep the previous content that I posted on Lemmy.world, Am I able to do this, and if I can how?
As far as I know the best you can do is making a microblog that directs your followers to your new account and maybe changing your name to SamXavia[old] or SamXavia[moved] but there’s no built in account moving system yet.
@ContentConsumer9999 Thanks I’ll keep that in mind as I move across, luckily I don’t have years worth of usage on Lemmy or any other Fediverse platform yet.
AFAIK, there’s no way to transfer data across servers. Limitaton of the current ActivityPub protocol.
But hopefully there’s a tool to transfer subscriptions.
@hariette Thank you, I will hopefully get to see that happen in the future, Guess I’ll just start from step 1 again.
I do know that mastodon has the ability to move between instances. Export and import feature plus announcement. https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2019/06/how-to-migrate-from-one-server-to-another/
But for some reason isn’t yet implemented in both lemmy and kbin.
@melroy Yeah I really do hope that in the future we will have a better way to transfer our data across instances as it would be a welcome change for people wanting to switch or if an instance is shutting down and users have to move about in the #Fediverse. It just allows people to control there data that little bit more and not loose things when something ‘better’ comes along.
