Every time I walk outside I try to remember to bring a plastic bag with me so I can pick up whatever piece of trash I see on the ground. It’s a bit of a double-edged sword really, while it’s nice to take care of the earth around you it’s also quite sad to see just how much trash is around you at all times. Thankfully it ends up being nice in the end because I now see less and less litter around on my usual routes. Keeping in mind that some is enough (I don’t need to pick up every little piece esp if I’m on my way to someplace like work) and that what’s small to you means the world to the plants, insects, and whatever animal that may be in that area does help with this hobby as well

I’m hoping to do more volunteer work and bigger actions for helping the local area at some point in the near future but for now this is a good habit to have

I went to a super busy park while my wife was at a nearby doctor’s appointment and I picked up trash in a small area for 40 minutes. There were trash cans EVERYWHERE and people couldn’t be bothered. That was super rough on my back, I’ll have to get one of those grabby gun things next time.

    Keep doing the good work!

    Nice to hear this.

Do you know the Pirika app? I learned about it today. It’s kind of a social sharing of picked up plastic. On one hand it makes picking up trash a positive social experience, and on the other hand they use the pickups to analyse where how much trash is thrown.

Good for you bud. That’s awesome. I got one of those claw things with a handle that way I don’t have to touch the trash or bend down every time, works great. Got it from Walgreens for like ten bucks.

Put on some headphones, put on a podcast, and I go wander around the beach. Feels good and is actually relaxing to me.

    Good for you!

I do the same, in my tiny little of area in the country side. I go for a walk in the mornings along the road, and pick up any trash I find. Most country roads around here are very trashed (Texas), but my little area is quite nice.

At least one of my neighbors litters like crazy as they drive, obviously just throwing out beer cans, food containers etc along the road, as often as they can. They are a broken human being, but I still keep things clean despite their behavior.

Spread the word, thank you for your doing!

I also try to pickup trash while being on the beach or the forest.
