The blooms are great. I often have sprouts from my compost pile because of last year’s jack o lanterns, and I love to let them go and pretty up the place.

I honestly didn’t know that was a thing!! I only have one female flower developing right now, so I should harvest some of the blooms. Thank you!

No problem! They are hard to come by around me so I’ve only tried using them as a garnish so far; the flavor is subtle and the color is fun. That’ll be such a nice extra treat, enjoy!

Where do you live that pumpkin is viable right now? Avid Gardner in Texas here, everything but tomatoes (barely hanging on) and peppers are dying this time of year. I focus mostly on fruit trees that I shield from freezes cuz my summers just kill everything :/.

8b is the lower southern US… I’m in it and I can’t keep anything alive but peppers without daily watering and ridiculous amounts of care. Pretty sure you don’t have your zone right.

Fuck, that’s crazy. They really, reallllllyyyyy need to rethink how those zones are drawn now with global warming changes. My high/low temps are an average of 20 degrees above yours right now, yet we’re the same zone somehow. I basically use zone 9-10 as guide cuz they’re so wrong.

It’s a Northern Bush Pumpkin. I bought the plant when it was wee with two leaves at a local farmer’s market and it is going absolutely bananas right now. I’m in zone 5 in the western US, so I think the season has been just right. Not too hot, which killed one of my jalapeño plants, but everything else (tomato varieties) are doing well.
