Christian Science does not agree with the theory that morals grow out of people's behavior. It stands firmly on the ground that morals for mankind are derived from the divine Mind, God, and that they are therefore ageless. Morally right behavior pertaining to sex was revealed by Moses. Christ Jesus unveiled more of the spiritual basis of the moral law, but of this law he said, "I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil." Matt. 5:17;
Mrs. Eddy in her revelation of Christian Science shows us that human behavior in accord with the moral law is scientifically related to divine Truth. And in this scientific relationship we find the basis for the healing of sin. That homosexuality is a deviation from the moral law is made plain in the Bible, where it is recorded that the Lord spoke to Moses saying, "If a man ... lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death: their blood shall be upon them." Lev. 20:13;
In Jesus' Sermon on the Mount we find the harshness of the Mosaic law modified. We also find emphasis placed more on motives than on overt acts. But we do not find any actual change in the rightness or wrongness of behavior in regard to sex. Lust is explained as a thing of the heart, and Christian Science shows that the motives of the heart govern the acts of the body as well as the health of the body.
If God says murder is cool now, is it cool now? If yes, then your system of morals is arbitrary. If no, then God is only following a moral law, rather than creating it.
That’s what scares the fuck out of me when it comes to major religions. If the Pope one day said, “rise up and kill” and only 1% of Catholics followed his orders, the bloodbath would be vast.
