After playing all the earlier Bloons TD games (shoutout Newgrounds), I settled on 5 being the best. 6 has too many mobile-gameified elements for my liking, and changes a lot that fans of the earlier games might like or not, depending on if you were bored of the older series entries or wanted something new. Also, 5 is still getting OTA updates pushed over 10 years after release! Gotta support that longevity!

Elements like what? They do an amazing job at not forcing micro transactions, and the bloons gameplay loop is all the same just with more content and stuff to do

I’ve got 100k MM and I’ve never bought any with real money

Well there’s also microtransactions in 5, which is why I didn’t mention that. It’s mostly just me yearning for the older style of simple flash game that doesn’t really exist anymore. 1-3 are pretty dated at this point, I just feel like 4/5 were in that sweet spot where they started polishing up the old classic style. 6 feels very polished, so it’s probably a bit of cognitive dissonance on my part as well in comparing it to the originals.

thats an interesting perspective, I do love coming back to 5 occasionally to relive all the hours I put into it. ive been with 6 since launch though and have grown to absolutely adore everything about it, and overpowers nostalgia to me

Loop Hero had a fascinating story. The world is ending and as part of that everyone’s memory is fading. It’s nothing to really get super excited about but it was a way more surreal and unique story than I expected from it and I don’t really see people talk about it. I haven’t beaten yet, I started it over recently. I just played again after a month.

I played it a lot on launch. We had recently moved into a new house. It’s actually the first video game I played in the new house. I was looking for a new job at the time. That combined with all the unpacking and new house chores made me extremely stressed. I refer to this three months period or so as the black out. There were so many things that happened that I just don’t really remember. It felt like my brain wasn’t making new memories lol. It’s very ironic that after finally going through the effort to set up my desk and computer that the game’s story was about the world ending and everyone having to remember it back into existence.

It’s definitely one of the most unique stories and gameplays I’ve seen in a game.

Same thoughts. It was a good game that ended up not really having new ideas as you went along and compensating that hole with “pad out grinding”. I still beat it fully, but I don’t quite have good feelings for it out the other way. For the gameplay. Spritework was great.

Both excellent and worth downloading especially for free. Loop Hero has some similarities to Vampire Survivors: pixel art + rogue like elements. Just vampire survivors exposes the gameplay and story and guides in a much more organic way. After while, loop hero had me just googling everything because so much was hidden away and not really approachable. Still a fun game but it doesn’t keep you coming back.

Both games are great. Blooms TD is a great way to kill time. The sounds of balloons popping take a while to get old.

I haven’t played loop hero since launch but it may be time to replay it
