The scary thing is you can be killed by Israel and your government will do nothing about it. They literally have a licence to murder whoever they like.
It is not like this is the first civilian casualty there and it is not like Israel would change its course anyway. So why the surprise.
We are talking about an army that killed three of their own who were shirtless, without any arms, waving a white flag.
But he is part Palestinian… It’s clearly antisemitic to not let them kill him.
Aside from the multiple layers of sarcasm and irony here…
Semites are people purported to be descendants of the biblical Shem, son of Noah. To some degree, this applies to all peoples of Syro-Arabic lineage.
Of course, DNA tracing shows that all these people groups (including Hebrews) mixed so thoroughly with the people of Canaan that despite various attempts to define races over the centuries, the only distinctions of note are, for the most part, cultural.
So let’s stop using the term that has no historical or contemporary benefit. Some people are anti-Jewish, some are anti-middle-eastern, and some are anti-Israeli. But the only real difference between the Palestinians and the Jewish Israelis is a few generations of ancestry and their cultural religion.
Generically, sure. Seems like some highly complex social issues, religion, and hate might have complicated things…
Surely the Biden administration will take issue to the senseless murder of an American citizen, right?
Edit: I guess they didn’t even take that much issue to India assassination a US national on US soil (or a Canadian national on Canadian soil). Hmm.
Only if it helps US interests. Duh.
You either get Biden who doesn’t want to say anything to avoid the politics or Trump who actively encourages it because of his Islamophobia base.
I mean, Biden is obviously better than the alternative, but damn.
the us thwarted the India gov’s attempted assassination attempt on Singh Pannun
I can’t imagine the pain and bottomless hatred I’d have if my son was killed in a war, but the name thing keeps me from wanting him to travel anywhere that might be a war zone.
Well, anymore than random places in the US already is…
West Bank isn’t even a war zone. This appears to have been just a regular incident of a settler deciding to murder a Palestinian and the IDF helping out.
Now I understand why home schooling is so popular in the USA.
This is the best summary I could come up with:
AL-MAZRA’A AL-SHARQIYA, West Bank — Tawfic Hafeth Abdel Jabbar, 17, was born and raised in Louisiana, in a city called Gretna across the Mississippi River from New Orleans and surrounded by the delta’s swampland and bayous.
It’s a long way from the mountains of the occupied West Bank, but when Tawfic arrived in May, he was excited to properly explore the landscape of the village where his dad grew up, and to learn more about his roots as a Palestinian American.
But he says the Biden administration’s support of Israel, including with weapons, and what he sees as a tepid response from the White House to Tawfic’s death make him doubt that his government will act in his son’s interest.
The incident comes as human rights groups have documented a rise in settler violence in the occupied West Bank since the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza began.
Since Oct. 7, at the start of the war in Gaza, 344 Palestinians, including 88 children, have been killed by security forces and settlers across the West Bank, according to data from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
Since the start of the war, President Joe Biden has urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to minimize civilian casualties in Gaza, but the death toll has continued to skyrocket in the months since.

Was it playing with fate when he didn’t leave for the US when the war started? Obviously no civilians should have to fear for their lives, but it does seem like a bad call.
I don’t think he should have been killed, but if o was in a country that was part of a war zone and I could just go back home to another country, then it’s partially on me for staying.
Like if a US person was in Ukraine and died from a Russian bomb, well if the person didn’t have to be in a war zone then they shouldn’t have been there.
The West Bank isn’t even supposed to be at war…
