It’s helpful to realize that it’s okay for your choice not to be the “best” one and that, if fact, there often is no one best choice. Making a decision and moving forward is usually more important than what decision you make.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Salt is very salty. Sugar is not that sweet.
364·3 days agoI know it’s not meant to be taken literally, but it is literally incorrect. If you don’t consume a lot of sugar, it tastes very sweet when you do.
Just give in when the calling comes. And it will come.

Games@lemmy.world•A cool feature/mechanic you want to see in games again
1·3 days agoIt’s not remotely the same type of game, but you should try burning some things down in Don’t Starve.
Actually, yes. “Kamado grill” makes me picture a kamado with a grill plate in it. I’m guessing the green egg (which is what I’ve always heard them called until now) got its name from the ibushigin, which is a kamado designed to (lightly) smoke the contents of the pot rather than to steam rice. The contents sit on a little grill plate in the pot.
And you could feed a village with a rice cooker like that!

This is a tough one because people being forgetful is often due to lack of attentiveness as well. Took me years to realize that my spouse isn’t forgetful–he just doesn’t really pay attention to begin with, even though he would say that he does.
Anyway, it’s always better to just move on and not make a big deal out of it regardless.

105·3 days agoDo people lose any semblance of a safety net if they lose their job in France? No? They won’t die of uncontrolled medical problems or see their child starve because they decided to stand up and make a point?
Not exactly comparable, then, is it?

I think this is a “woosh” on your part. OP seems to have been joking about how this is a gilded age–not a golden one.
