  • Aside from what has been said, it is important to keep in mind that the distribution of apps is controlled by companies that you would likely be boycotting (plus their allies) which could mean that the primary means of getting to people such as the play stores could ban the app and make it highly unlikely to spread very far. Having alternative distribution plans and back up plans for these types of scenarios from the outset would be wise

  • You need to look up your state’s recording consent laws, but generally any place where there is “no reasonable expectation of privacy” is considered legal to record audio, even in states that follow “two party consent” frameworks. Depending on the work place, it could be argued one way or the other and only a lawyer familiar with your state’s laws could give a sure answer based on the specifics of your situation. A lot of states don’t have any limitations on recording though so if you are in one of those you are obviously in the clear.

  • TBF sanctions have worked really well against Cuba, Venezuela, DPRK just to name a few. Smaller and isolated economies which have not fully industrialized can artificially be set back decades via sanctions, and while those nations still exist, we can’t pretend it hasn’t been an immense struggle for them which is almost entirely due to the sanctions. The US thought their war strategies against the Taliban and ISIS would work against Russia and they thought their economic attacks would work the same - not realizing in both instances that Russia isn’t a literal or figurative island with a fragile economy.

  • The USA is a settler colony which requires the elimination of the natives in order to take over as private owners of the land which had been shared in commons by the natives. If the natives exist there in great numbers, they can claim rights to the land, so they have to be taken out. The colonizers of the lands known as USA committed widespread genocide and enslavement of the natives in order to depopulate them, including intentional use of bio weapons. Other ethnic groups can’t lay claim to the land so their populations being high doesn’t really have the same problem as far as land claims go, aside from maybe New Afrikans although I don’t think most USAians are considering that claim seriously anymore/yet.

  • Just to be clear, I don’t know Hudson personally and haven’t heard him say anything antisemitic. I am looking at all the info I have as someone that doesn’t know him (PB academic, long history paid by banks and oil companies, has chosen to post on a fascist website for many many years and was made aware of it and said he’d investigate and chose to stay, doesn’t write about anything revolutionary - just economics, gets a lot of traction on the left over the last few years with the idea that the US needs to reindustrialize as if supporting industrial capitalists against financial capitalists will save the US economy, writes about jews being financiers who killed jesus to keep their jewish financial control…) and the pattern starts to become pretty clear.

The reality of bigotry, antisemitism especially, is that people can learn and harbor it their whole lives without ever realizing it. They can replicate and disseminate it and explain it in ways that might seem logical, couching it in what they believe to be totally unrelated, but really be driven by it on a fundamental level. It did not take many Jewish comrades of mine very long to get red flags from the info that is available about Hudson that I mentioned above, to many Jewish people it was pretty obvious pretty quickly when he was self publishing on a website that literally has schematics for gas chambers on it.

  • Sure those things were happening simultaneously but most of those folks spent all their lives organizing with real people who had much more similar class interests to them, and the media dissemination was a part of it. The largest periods of writing and publishing were often in exile from state repression. It was through their actual organizing and life experience that they had the position to be writing and debating such things. A bunch of westerners who have barely struggled for anything in their life, who benefit immensely from systems of oppression and don’t have the same class interests as the majority of workers in the world, and self identify as communists but still choose to spend more time online than trying to organize in the real world, are not the people who will be forming a vanguard which also might not ever actually be formed. There is no promise that a vanguard must develop in any nation, especially the imperial core.

My point is mostly to highlight the reasons why I don’t think you can create such an online space that will be very active, because the majority of people online who self identify as communists have no reasons for a space like this, they are looking to socialize and shitpost with a certain aesthetic. The .0001% of westerners who would want such a space without the casual elements would be such a small community of people that there probably wouldn’t be enough going on in such a space to make it active enough and couching such a thing in a place like lemmygrad or hexbear seems like a better move than trying to remove the casual elements and have a purely studious, serious organizing space online.
