With proton you can create an alias to receive mail, like when you’re signing up for a new service, but I don’t think you can send mail from the alias address.

I don’t have an answer to your question, but I’m curious why you want to get away from unraid. I’m an unraid user and am just looking for some insight.

Have we tried putting Gatorade on it? It’s what plants crave. It’s got electrolytes!

Well this is interesting. I hadn’t heard of Beeper before. Many years ago I used Trillion (I think it was) as a chat aggregator. It fell apart pretty quickly, but Beeper looks promising. I signed up for their wait-list. We’ll see what happens.
They have thousands of signs including locations in other countries. I’m not sure what the current count is, but 10 years ago there were 100 Wall Drug signs between Rapid City and Wall (about an hour drive on I-90).
The original author of this comic would post his content regularly on Reddit. I refuse to download the official app to verify I’m right about his name, but I believe it was sellyourcomputer or something like that. I’ll edit this if someone corrects me.

I’m also a RIF refugee. Liftoff is the first app I’ve tried for Lemmy. Overall I’m pretty happy. The updates get better and better. I’m still leaning how to Lemmy, but I really like it so far. One of the few things throwing me off at the moment is that I either can’t or don’t know how to easily tell what posts I’ve already seen. RIF would change the color of the text from white to blue. If they can add that then I’ll have nothing to complain about.

I have the opposite problem. Registered just fine here, but couldn’t get lemmy.world to go through
Important details from the Reddit comment:
Hi everyone,
No, Proton did not knowingly block journalists’ email accounts. Our support for journalists and those working in the public interest has been demonstrated time and again through actions, not just words.
In this case, we were alerted by a CERT that certain accounts were being misused by hackers in violation of Proton’s Terms of Service. This led to a cluster of accounts being disabled.
Because of our zero-access architecture, we cannot see the content of accounts and therefore cannot always know when anti-abuse measures may inadvertently affect legitimate activism.
Our team has reviewed these cases individually to determine if any can be restored. We have now reinstated 2 accounts, but there are other accounts we cannot reinstate due to clear ToS violations.
Regarding Phrack’s claim on contacting our legal team 8 times: this is not true. We have only received two emails to our legal team inbox, last one on Sep 6 with a 48-hour deadline. This is unrealistic for a company the size of Proton, especially since the message was sent to our legal team inbox on a Saturday, rather than through the proper customer support channels.
The situation has unfortunately been blown out of proportion without giving us a fair chance to respond to the initial outreach.
