Wow, this hit me right in the nostalgia.
When I visited I was disappointed to find it closed - this sounds like a perfect excuse to make a return trip!
Billy Connolly would be a good shout too I think.
This is the reason I’m back. Being able to lurk on Reddit scratched the itch just enough that I didn’t need an alternative while that worked.
My vote goes to lemmers.
I had to move the Connect app to the spot RiF used to be in because I didn’t realise until it was gone that muscle memory would take me there pretty much every time I was scrolling my phone. I’ll miss it a lot, but I have hope that in time a better alternative/Lemmy will take over. They don’t deserve to succeed at this point.
Yeah, I think a lot of people waited until the Reddit apps were actually killed before making the switch (myself included).
This is how I’m feeling right now too. I’m hopeful that the userbase will expand quickly though.
I used to commute Edinburgh - Glasgow, and plenty of others do the same. It’s also common for folk to do the trip just for an evening to go to a gig or something (a lot of tours will have their only Scottish date in Glasgow). I think your friends were probably meaning that you’d need more than a day to fully be able to see what Glasgow has to offer? If not, that seems really odd as it’s a busy commuter route.
