  • The quote I received from the local company (the 12x 465w) panels has come to £8,500ish, including installation. I might ask to see what it is with a 10kWh battery, and see if it makes sense. I did wonder if 5kWh would be enough throughout the winter, I’d imagine it might be only enough to get through the peak period.

Octopus’s provisional quote was £2k extra although I need to give them more specific information, so that quote might come down.

The way our roof is means we’d basically use all of it and it’s facing east/west which should give us a longer sunlight duration.

  • True, but in order to make it a healthy viable alternative to centralised platforms then there needs to be a financial incentive for creators to use peertube. I guess any creators who give a shit about this kind of thing could upload their content to both platforms, but doing so could have an impact on their YouTube earnings.

Early youtube was beautiful precisely because it was normal people making videos as a hobby, not trying to earn money.

It was also a novelty as it as very new, but the quality of content being put out now is significantly higher than it was in 2005.

  • You’ve been painting in this weather? Are you OK? :D The paint was probably drying before it even went onto the walls!

Yeah my week was fine ta, was just rather hot! I work from home and it was pretty unbearable on Friday. Seriously starting to think about investing in solar & A/C given that the summers are going to continue like this!

  • But Heidi Alexander would not confirm whether it would give grants to encourage motorists to switch when asked by Laura Kuenssberg on Sunday, following a report in the Telegraph, external that Labour is poised to unveil £700m in subsidies.

Isn’t this the very thing they need to be incentivising? Switching from ICE to EV vehicles?

For people without off-street parking - like those living in blocks of flats or terraced houses - charging an EV overnight can often be challenging, while on-street charging points can be far more expensive than charging from a mains socket.

What about offering people without a drive but with an EV some kind of discount when using public chargers?
