The Harris campaign finished out the race with at least $20 million in debt, two sources familiar told Politico’s Christopher Cadelago, who wrote on X Wednesday night that of the $1 billion Harris had raised, only $118 million remained in cash as of October 16.

“We spent money in stupid ways because we had a really bad strategy,” a former consultant to the DNC told Puck’s Tara Palmeri. He cited money sent to fund Representative Colin Allred’s failed challenge against Texas Senator Ted Cruz, as well as money directed to help in Iowa, a state Democrats never, ever win.

Inside Harris’s crumbled campaign, some feel that they were misled about her chances, and led to believe it would be a margin-of-error race. In reality, Trump blew apart Harris’s play for the blue wall states and beat her by more than four million votes.

Harris’s campaign budget was closely guarded by campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon, so it’s unclear exactly how funds were allocated. Unfortunately for Harris, dollars didn’t seem to translate into votes. And even after Harris lost, her campaign is still sending out slates of fundraising requests.

“It’s the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)”, stylized as ITEOTWAWKI(AIFF), features stream-of-consciousness lyrics that border on a rant, encompassing a wide variety of references. For example, four famous people with the initials LB are mentioned throughout the song, and the only explanation Michael Stipe has given is that he had a dream the four of them appeared in.

Overall, it decries various aspects of society that Stipe has a problem with. It does so with rapid-fire references to religion, media, patriotism, the Soviet Union, continental drift, and more. As a result, it’s hard to follow the song without a copy of the lyrics (and these annotations).

An early precursor to this song was an outtake from the band’s 1986 album, Lifes Rich Pageant, called “PSA (Bad Day)” – in 2003 a reworked version of the song was released as the single “Bad Day”, drawing ironic and inaccurate charges of being derivative, though it is a completely different song.^[1]

I wonder if the numbers will have an impactful change when comparing the people that said they would move out of the U.S. due to 2016/2020/2024.

It is important to escape our self-built echo chambers. Many independent journalists and commentators spoke of an increase in minority support for Trump and Harris not reaching the Biden numbers.

We must focus on building up a grassroots movement that is for the working class and moving away from the duopoly.

The working class voted as expected; no need to talk down to people that don’t vote how you want them to.

I think it is better to continue to talk with people with diverse ideas different from ours and look at where we may agree.

That is why it is important to escape self-built echo chambers. Many independent journalists and commentators spoke about the increased support Trump was getting from minorities and the disdain people had for Kamala Harris.

I am looking forward to how third parties performed and to see if more people become anti-genocide or anti-war.

Our economy, our proxy wars that we are funding, and shifts in political views for some due to all these conflicts might have something to do with this.

Harris was not that popular in her presidential run in 2020 as well.

But what does it take to move to Canada? Is it even possible for Americans? And how difficult would it be? In short, it’s not an easy journey, but it can be done.

To gain permanent residency and, eventually, citizenship, the process is complicated. You must be 18 years old. Then, you can apply several different ways — via specific provinces, via a special entrepreneur route, with help from a family member or spouse already living in Canada or through Québec, which has special immigration requirements, Business Insider reported.

The more skills you have, including fluency in English and French, the higher you’ll “score” on applications, making you all the more likely to gain residency.

Skilled workers are able to apply for residency via a fast track, called the Express Entry system. Under that, skilled workers are transitioned into new roles in the country and given scores based on their talents and job prospects when they apply that then contribute to where they’re placed and if they’re placed. Those with top scores are given permanent residency on a Canadian work visa.

Once a permanent residence, you’re entitled to healthcare coverage and are able to work, study and travel anywhere in the country. But, you can’t vote, run for office or hold certain jobs with top security clearances.

Permanent residents could lose their status if they aren’t in Canada for at least 730 of the days during the first five years of their tenure, and to continue it after five years, they must meet that requirement and then declare their intent to stay Canadian. The only exception is for Crown servants or their families working on behalf of Canada abroad.

Those requirements must be met plus some to become a citizen. Permanent residents have to be physically present in Canada for at least 1,095 days in the first five years of their permanent residency — more specifically before the date their applications are signed. Consistency is key — inconsistency in living and simply being in Canada can be a red flag to immigration officers reviewing citizenship applications.

Income tax filings have to be sent for three years of that five-year period leading up to the date of the application signing, which is to show the Canadian authorities that the individual’s job is legit. You must also speak English or French, not necessarily fluently, but you have to be able to prove that you can make small talk in one of those languages, including giving directions and using basic grammar and being able to describe yourself.

A general knowledge of Canada is also required, including history, values and other institutions and symbols of Canada. The test is written but can be delivered orally.

Even then, there are a number of reasons why an application can be denied despite meeting the aforementioned requirements. Any crimes committed within four years of the application submission are likely to disqualify a prospective citizen.

Fearmongering is always used to keep the working class stuck voting for the duopoly; I am not nor do I support the duopoly.

Voting out of fear is much worse for our society.

Third parties are the long-term solution to building up the working-class grassroots movements.

The fearmongering every four years only works on those voting for the duopoly; it has been used for many decades, the quote being an example of the status quo continuing.

We must demand higher standards from our politicians, first by not voting out of fear and working toward creating a better future outside the duopoly.

Rewarding genocide should not be an option, so third parties are the only choice some of us have.
