This is definitely the game that does (become unfun through too much detail) that a lot, but it lets you turn off each mechanic that has been introduced. Real W&Rheads play on “realistic mode”, which means you have to import labour, gravel, concrete, pave roads etc etc. I generally don’t because um.

Um, we make fun of our authority figures but also believe the worst of them whatever they say about our national enemies (regarding Australia, national enemies include China, immigrants, the poor etc). There is more standard capitalist deference as well, you’re not going to slag someone who can fire you (to their face). And people are constantly ladder climbing as well, so there’s this sort of jockeying to have good banter while not creating enemies more powerful than you. I hate it. Its hard to navigate and people hide some real barbs behind “its a joke”.

I downloaded a tiny police station that was labelled “Post Office, Not Secret Police”. I laughed, but yes there are some basic government mechanics. It’s pretty underdeveloped compared to the industrial and transport stuff though. Unlike Cities: Skylines, you cannot legalise weed (or even choose crops other than “crops”). I thought it compressed a lot of events into its rather long timeframe, so some scenes that built up scale and atmosphere are quite short compared to the equivalent scenes in the first movie.

Sometimes. I have a hard time when to prioritise my own needs against other people’s, so I wind up vacillating between very meek and belligerent kinda randomly. Especially when it comes to social needs (e.g. if it feels like someone else is dominating a conversation with their topic of interest, and I have something I wanted to say about something 3 minutes ago but the person hasn’t stopped talking, idk what do).
