Iceland plays a crucial roll in the Soviet Union’s non-nuclear attack on NATO forces. Active Volcanoes and airborne-ash would only help to serve the Sov’s maskirova.

Also, to all the others here who have read the book, welcome, and I hope your prostate exams are going well, and that you have a good strategy for the back pain.

a Red Storm Rising movie adaptation

This being one of my absolute favorite military fiction novels, I very much fear Hollywood screwing it up. At the same time, I’d love to see a miniseries, maybe directed by Ridley Scott.

“Sum of All Fears” was just bayd…Ben Affleck tightening his jaw and looking vacant, yet grim in some hospital where his girlfriend was doing her residency. That’s all I can remember about it. Morgan Freeman? Maybe?

So much of the wold has changed since '86. The Sovs only attacked NATO because they thought the surprise action would get them to an immediate stalemate that would allow them to steamroll the oil producing countries in the middle east. I can’t imagine any aggressor that could hope to hold an active-conflict stalemate with NATO period. Except maybe the US. Who’s gonna write the script for a rogue-state US fighting NATO?
