So the economy does better when you use tax revenues to create jobs with infrastructure projects and to lift people up with social programs than it does when you cut taxes and let the super rich rob the system. Who’d a thunk it?

The rich have their own growth metrics which look spectacular when a Republican administration is dismantling society and directing all the capital in their direction, and that seems to line up exactly with all these findings.

While I’m not saying we don’t need to do more to fight income inequality, something they highlight in the report is that economic gains are more evenly distributed under democratic administrations.

Household income growth (adjusted for inflation) was faster on average and far more equal during Democratic administrations, and the Democratic advantage shows up for every group.

Because it goes against the gaslighting they keep believing that the economy is doing well. A 12% increase in homelessness is not the sign of a good economy. Despite what this article says, things are not good under a democrat.

And when I say even in the suburbs, I’m seeing it in my suburban neighborhood which is upper middle-class. If it’s in this type of area it’s more prevalent in lower income areas.

Well to be fair this would be worse under Trump.

My father who now is a full on Trumper once told me (before Faux news and newsmax fried his brain) that everything going on the country is based on last guy in charge. And it can take up to two terms just fix the mess.

So lot of the Problems are Trump fault and Biden doing what can. Of course Biden and most Democrats are conservative now so they don’t and won’t help that much.

i love when people try and tell me that gas prices were better under trump, like he somehow controlled the global oil prices.

Like yes im sure he had an impact, sucking putins dick and loving the middle eastern vibes is probably going to get you some pretty cheap oil. Weird how that one works.

And cheap oil is bad for the US oil industry and US energy independence. Under ~$3 a barrel and our fracked oil fields become unprofitable. Something like ¾ of Texas’ oil fields were closed in the first year or so after covid and most fracked wells suffer damage from closing process and can’t be re-opened. Putin intentionally kept production high during Covid, causing the prices to plummet more, to damage the US oil industry as we’d become the world’s top producer.

Heck the stupid XL pipeline not being available keeps prices low for the US Midwest because Canada is forced to sell crude at a discount to US midwest refineries. But Republicans repeat the Koch brothers promoted, well-rehearsed lies that that somehow that pipeline allowing Canada to get their crude to refineries on the Texas coast and sell on a world market would lower gas prices.

yeah, economics is a bitch huh.

The solution? Stop paying for gas lol, whether thats an EV or just using public transit, literally just don’t pay for gas. Electricity is MUCH more stable in terms of market rates. Here in the US atleast.

Here in Canada, it’s generally the same. Our Economy has almost always been strongest under Liberal led governments.

The Conservative’s have always ran on “conservative fiscally” as a term, but often never have real plans than tax cuts and austerity for public services.

Macroeconomic measures are designed to measure the performance of capital. They are not a reflection of working class experience of the economy and in some instances are actually an indication of worse conditions.

Saying the macroeconomics are better under Democrats doesn’t mean anything to people who are being priced out of home ownership and having to cut back on groceries.

But seriously, EPI is a think tank with a left-leaning bias. This is a well-researched opinion piece, but an opinion piece nonetheless. Also the Cato Institute puts out articles that prove how small government principles work better than anything else.

Weird, Wikipedia has the same “opinion”

          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._economic_performance_by_presidential_party

Since World War II, the United States economy has performed better significantly on average under the administration of Democratic presidents than Republican presidents. The reasons for this are debated, and the observation applies to economic variables including job creation, GDP growth, stock market returns, personal income growth and corporate profits. The unemployment rate has risen on average under Republican presidents, while it has fallen on average under Democratic presidents. Budget deficits relative to the size of the economy were lower on average for Democratic presidents. Ten of the eleven U.S. recessions between 1953 and 2020 began under Republican presidents.

Of these, the most statistically significant differences are in real GDP growth, unemployment rate change, stock market annual return, and job creation rate (see #Statistics).

To be clear, I am not for “watching the world burn because F%#* it”.

The questions are what is effective resistance? Whose fault it is if that resistance isn’t happening? Who polices who about what acceptable mainstream strategies and narratives for resistance are?

People are answering these questions and you don’t like the answers.

Settling for things getting worse slowly is insane. Slowly getting worse is things like the total amount I paid for my house 30 years ago not being enough to cover a down payment on a house today.
