Donald Trump has been rushed off stage after multiple shots were heard at a rally in Pennsylvania, where the former president was speaking.

Images showed blood on Mr Trump’s face and ear and snipers on the roof near the stage where Mr Trump was standing.

A statement from the Trump campaign […] "He is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility.

The post has video of the event and immediate aftermath (minimal blood/gore etc)

As of about 9:50 Melbourne time, Reuters and AP are both independently reporting two deaths: a “shooter” and an audience member / rally attendee.

Be skeptical of updates from unvetted sources like social media. Reuters and AP have more if you want something faster than local news.

I have to go life now so there’ll be no more timely edits with new information unless it’s so insane that someone barges in to tell me about it.

Lots of people are saying this is a false flag

Like it’s that unbelievable that a guy who has promised to be a dictator, put women at risk of death, basically arrest political rivals unjustifiably and pardon criminals isn’t one of the earths most hated men

Would be a very risky shot to take as a false flag (unless they were actually using a BB gun or something).

EDIT: 2 people are apparently dead, so I doubt the BB gun theory.

One of those 2 is the shooter himself. Unclear if he shot himself or the Secret Service got him.

There’s something a bit NQR about this, can’t quite put my finger on it. Shooter pops 7 shots into a crowd and doesn’t injure anyone else? Maybe I’m a cynic, but Mr Bone Spurs acts a little too cooly for someone who just got shot. And that fist shaking defiant pose? What secret service/security people would pause to let him do that?Looks more staged than a Christmas special lol.

Edit: apparently a rally attendee was killed. Not the right one, unfortunately.

Honestly the same thoughts crossed my mind, apart from the injuries to the crowd.

Edit: apparently the shooter was a registered Republican voter. Interesting.

Right, and the Musk announcing afterward that he’s voting for him, this was 100% a staged assassination attempt. Five bucks he blames Biden of trying to have him killed because “he thinks he can get away with it” after the recent SC ruling.

There’s a certain irony that Trump has become a victim of the political violence that he himself has stirred up.

While political violence is unacceptable, I can’t help but think there’s a bit of karma here.

I would stop thinking that way, or you’re just asking yourself to be tread on by fascists. You think these fuckers would stop at any length, after they made this much progress? They’ll be forming militias and organizing with police while redditors and .world sit on their asses talking about voOOoting and condemning any efforts at actual change, because they don’t work within the confines liberal pacifist morality. Democracy is over (if it was ever alive in the first place), even in the off-chance Genocide Joe’s rotting corpse wins the next election the supreme court will just decide it was illegitimate, if not sooner.

Ok well that was a bit of a detour but it’s naive to think that even if people took up arms those who eventually step into power would somehow be benevolent. You only have to look at the history of Russia, Germany and many South East Asian countries as an example.

The only way to stop this kind of thing is a good guy with a gun so you need to arm everyone in the audience.

Trump himself has said it was “a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear” and several outlets (e.g. Axios, NBC, Vox) seem to have retracted information about the glass theory. Amusingly Trump is probably not a reliable source of information, so I’m hesitant to say the source of the injury is confirmed yet, but the retractions have me pretty skeptical about the glass theory.

I doubt anyone else is coming back to read this other than you if you have notifications on, but Snopes, based on photographic evidence of intact teleprompters and other evidence, is willing to rule the teleprompter glass shard theory as “False”.

They do note the recent statement from FBI director who said: “There’s some question about whether or not it’s a bullet or shrapnel that hit his ear”, so I guess it’s still not clear it was definitely a bullet but yeah, teleprompter glass seems to be out.

All they needed was one good guy with yet another gun, but that was a trump event so there was not a single one 🥁🥁
