criticizing the Picard show (and nu-trek writers/execs more broadly) is one of the few entertainment topics I can see myself watching 3.5 hours of
I continue to insist that most of the nu-trek series are good, actually. The bad ones are just so bad, and so much more talked about, that they drown out the good.
I did enjoy Strange New Worlds overall.
I did too and SNW is the weakest of the four good nu-Treks
SNW, LD, Prodigy(?) and…? I must know, I’ve been disconnected from trek for a while now.
The Orville. It’s a good and legitimately Star Trek show.
Once The Orville shed “Family Guy in space” gimmicks a few episodes in, it got good enough to be considered Trek.
I swear those were just to sneak it past the execs
Oh yea, I did watch a couple seasons and was surprised by how decent it was. Still has a few MacFarlane-isms but it’s got the spirit. The Moclan child arc was actually really impressive aside from a couple lib bits.

My favorite thing about Picard from this series was how he became a gullible spineless coward who gives up on everything the moment it becomes difficult
It’s the same P R E S T I G E T V like treatment that Luke Skywalker got in Last Jedi. “Oh no, I sense the dark side, I am angry and afraid, and I am trying to murder someone in fear and anger… again! Character development only counts of it subverts expectations and undoes prior character development! Your Snoke Theory Sucks™!”
I dislike Last Jedi because it was poorly written slop, you hate it because it’s woke
Which makes the discourse around the movies (and star trek and etc etc.) unbearable cause it’s hard to criticize them without getting lumped in with the chuds, and you can’t defend the more diverse casting, etc., without having the same chuds descend upon ye
It really is hard to express dislike for Disney Star Wars movies (especially TLJ for some reason) without that dislike being perceived as either

Was actually looking forward to it. Thought they might actually take it into a new direction. It was instead one of the worst films I’ve ever watched.
Also they made a race of slave Data knockoffs and then the Romulans did a space 9/11 so they genocided the slaves
“Measure of a Man” and its legal precedent was completely eradicated because of a decades-late Space 9/11 rehash, all for some tiresome “robot people scary” Mass Effect bullshit that lead to Wish Dot Com Reapers threatening to come out of space glory holes.

Didn’t see this one! Really enjoyed her string theory and dark matter vids, and my trash (positive) is cool people dunking on other people’s trash (negative) so I’m definitely watching this
