Rabin would’ve done a two-state deal only Netamyahu had him killed. Israel is still bad to the core, but it wasn’t inevitable that it’d be this bad. Part of the problem is they have a real strong military-industrial complex and political power is held by folks with the ‘military’ personality-type.
