I agree that the US absolutely wouldn’t have arrested their own mercenary boss (Eric Prince) if he had done something similar. They’d do the same thing as Russia by just killing him and absolutely not risking arrest then court trial. It would be dangerous and naive to do otherwise.
You don’t have court trials for that kinda stuff, you just kill them and say nothing about it. Doing a court trial would just give someone like him an opportunity and he already proved willing to order his mercenaries to attack their patron nation.
Other than treason being a capital offense in most places, when he sicced his mercenaries on Russia itself, they killed Russian soldiers and undoubtedly there were civilians at least injured in the chaos. It was always going to be death for him the moment it was certain his troops wouldn’t do something stupid when it happened.
