The first episode of Daima has released on Crunchyroll in English as of 1 PM Eastern. Feel free to discuss the episode in this thread.
Please refrain from spoiling the episode outside of this thread.
oh of course Dabura’s father is named Abura lol, just like Bibidi, Babidi, and Buu
My big question is where Alakazam?
Demon Buu. Terrifying. This better happen
I’m out of the loop now. Is this a follow up to Dragon Ball Super?
this takes place in between Z and Super, after the Buu saga
Thanks 🙂
I didn’t know about this community and created a thread elsewhere. I will copy my post from there
I really enjoyed it. The new characters are fun and interesting, and it ties directly into Z. I love that they are finally going to Demon World. I always wondered why they never explored it. I don’t mind too much that they are kids. Maybe it will give it a little bit of a Dragon Ball feel
My only gripe, and I might be mistaken as it has been a while since I read the manga, is that they retconned (or unretconned?) the Potara ear rings again. If I am not mistaken it was stated in Super that it was only permanent for Kais. Vegito had something like a 10 minute time limit due to Blue using so much power. I thought I remembered Kibito Kai getting separated (by a witch maybe? I’m a lot more fuzzy on this one)
[SPOILER TERRITORY]
spoiler
Are we finally getting some info on Mr. Popo? This revelation of pointy ears being attributed to demon realm is quite interesting. Namekians, Kais, and Popo all originating from there. Do you think this will have any larger implications?
I like the parallels as well. Supreme Kai’s sister is the Demon World’s Bulma. Neva is Demon Kami. Do you think there will be more of these? :::
[END SPOILERS]
Overall I thought it was a good time, and I can’t wait for next week
Just to complete that comment, the other community is !dragonball@ani.social
Last time I checked, this community wasn’t that active, which is why I created the other one.
I am now having a look, and I see that Lemmy.ml has defederated Ani.social, so that’s unfortunate 😅
Otherwise we could have joined forces here or there
Apologies, I didn’t want to divert traffic from
yourthis community, so I refrained from mentioning it. That is unfortunate. Neither seems terribly active if I’m being honest with you, so dividing them isn’t the best thing in my opinionYeah, none is clearly that active.
At some point I got some momentum, that you can still see with the 749 users / 6 months, but I never really found that much content to post there. I was waiting for DB Daima to release, and well, here we are!
Edit: I had a look, seems like these were the two annoucements from ani.social on this:
It is what it is I suppose. Should I cross post my discussion thread to a general anime community?
Similar issue I guess:
- !anime@ani.social has 897 active users per month
- !anime@hexbear.net has 884
- !anime@lemmy.me has 225
https://lemmyverse.net/communities?query=anime&order=active_month
There seems to be federation issues between ani.social and hexbear as well: https://hexbear.net/c/anime@ani.social returns an error
Sad. I wish I knew how to help grow it
This is a topic we regularly discuss on !fedigrow@lemm.ee
Long story short: enough people need to agree together on one community to make it grow.
Seems like for anime in general, there are two active communities, so at the end you either choose one and only post on it, or post to both.
