The people I mentioned were likely some of the ones who worked on those scenes you thought were cool. Yuya Takahashi in particular was loved among fans for his style that heavily mirrored Yamamuro’s Buu saga style. Shintani was the one who came up with the designs for the recent Broly movie. If anything, this show will at least look competent, as long as the animators aren’t rushed like during Super’s production.

Can’t say I know what to expect from the story and writing, though.

Yeah for sure, but all it takes is some curiosity and commitment. The best way to learn self-hosting is getting a Raspberry Pi and self-hosting some stuff at home as practice. Pi-Hole, a VPN, Nextcloud, etc. There’s no shortage of things to host on a Pi and tutorials on how to do it.

You really shouldn’t host anything that other people will use if you’re only a novice. You’ll be responsible for other people’s data, so you’ll want to know enough about being a sysadmin so you don’t put that data at risk.

There’s this children’s show called Jakers which features a subplot about a sheep (voiced by Mel Brooks apparently) that basically tries to convince the other sheep to not be sheep just like in this strip.

I quite liked the addition of the Saiyaman X suits for Goten and Trunks. Very fun, but it’s also frustrating that they’re pretty much guaranteed to screw up the fusion and rob us of Saiyaman X². Maybe I’m wrong, though, and Toyotarou will change things up a bit.

Night of the Consumers has a premise that is sort of close to what you’re imagining.

I don’t mind this place being quite empty. I much prefer that over “pic #308192 of someone’s Dragon Ball tattoo” or the daily “why doesn’t Vegeta wish for the Saiyans to be revived?”

That looks to me like the episode where Goku turns Super Saiyan 2 to fight Caulifla and Kale. Should be Dragon Ball Super Episode 113 “With Great Joy! The Repeat Battle-Crazy Saiyan Fight!!” / “With Great Joy! The Fighting Freak Saiyans’ Battle Rejoined!”

I’d say your best bet is scrubbing through that episode to find this still and screenshotting it.

Great post, thanks for taking the time to write it up! I was gearing up to write a reply based on the new information we’ve gotten from the latest movie, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero (awful name), but it looks like that’s what you’ve planned out to be your next post.

In recent years, Dragon Ball has been in a weird phase of flip flopping between coming up with new ideas and re-treading old ideas. Introducing Beerus, re-treading Freeza, introducing other universes, re-treading Broly, introducing Moro, re-treading Cell. Given this and the current focus on the Red Ribbon army in Dragon Ball FighterZ, the manga, and the movies, I think it’s likely Android 16 will come back some day.

I wouldn’t mind that, but I want the franchise to be more ambitious and to stop re-treading its past.
