      I think his point is when you are far enough on any side of the spectrum, everyone else gets lumped together with the more problematic version of the opposition.

      Capitalists aren’t fascists but I wouldn’t be surprised to read an essay from someone on the far-left making that point.

      Socialists aren’t communists but you can frequently see this point being made by the far right.

        A lot of far left theory sees fascism as a result of capitalism. To defend the private property from the socialists one needs a group that zealously defends some in-group where the capitalists belong against some outgroup that contains the socialists. Something along those lines

          I don’t see how that holds up when historically capitalists have put their power behind the fight against fascism more often than not.

            They definitely always fought against socialism greatly hindering the fight against fascism

        This collective false dichotomy complex is a direct result of FPTP and the erosion of the education system having made choosing governance a team sport
