I made a video about various future uses of technology we might see beside the seaside, would love to hear peoples opinions - it’s more A.I. and automation focused than solarpunk but most of the technologies kinda fit here.
I really like this! I like the examination of positive uses for the technologies, and what the world might look like with them. I like you’ve grounded it in current (or in-development) technologies just being applied and interlinked in the right ways. Some of it feels a little distant to me, but I think it works well for the series and reminds me that there’s hope long-term too. The heavy emphasis on robotic automation of construction feels very much like Cory Doctorow’s Walkaway, which I really enjoyed.
It’s given me some encouragement to include a little more technology in my scenes (maybe that solar cooker could have some motors and a simple onboard computer running some software to make sure it’s always optimally pointed at the sun), or maybe a bigger, fixed-in-place unit could be incorporated into some DIY smart home stuff. Also, you have a great voice for narration!
