With the Pokemon manga being the only good video game based manga I can remember, I wonder, are there any other really good mangas that take video games as their source?

I’ve not read it to completion, but the YoRHa: Pearl Harbour Descent (depicting events leading up to NieR: Automata) is certainly very good. As an aside, the NieR: Automata light novels are excellent.

If you’re in to your Yoko Taro there’s also several manga entries in the Drakenguard universe, but I don’t know these so well.

There’s also a bunch of good adaptations of visual novels, like Danganropa and Steins;Gate, but I feel like I’m cheating a little by suggesting those!

I feel like Kingdom Hearts was alright? But I was also an edgy teenager when I last read it so who knows if it aged well.

Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet was relatively fun. Monster Hunter Rise is also fun, but I haven’t read the manga so I wouldn’t know.

Most of the games that spinoff from a manga or anime are usually JRPGs, and I don’t really like those.
