From a technical standpoint he’s definitely up there. I recently rewatched the Dark Knight after some time and despite knowing exactly what’s going to happen I was surprised how well executed the rising tension was.

He’s also an elitist prick who refuses to get on with the times, so I have a feeling he doesn’t have that many more acclaimed films in him.

I think Nolan is alright but his movies are not very artistic or meaningful. Personally I really like Kubrick because of Spartacus, Full Metal Jacket and Space Odyssey. These movies resonated with me. Among modern directors, I don’t particularly enjoy any of them. Nowadays, movies kinda stink, but maybe I’m just being negative.

Dr. Strangelove is one of my absolute favourites. Given the theme of nuclear annihilation it fits in with Oppenheimer as well as current events.

He’s one of the best just because of The Dark Knight trilogy as far as I’m concerned. But he’s not my favorite, that goes to Steven Spielberg, John Carpenter and James Wan.

Tarkovksy, Bela Tarr, Herzog, Illnias, Lucrecia Martel, Haneke, I kind think of a lot who are better than him in a lot of ways.
