I expect to see a WatPo or New Yorker article in 6 months talking about closures of mcdonalds stores due to the evil seeseepee forcing Chinese people to stop buying McDonalds and eat at local places instead, with no mention of these price hikes at all.
Ah yes,
21st century’s personal “big spoon incident”
Burgerpunk is pretty funny sometimes.
I was exhausted and hungry during a long day stuck in airports recently. Most other food locations had closed, and those that didn’t were predictably 30-40% more expensive than they should have been because “Fuck you yee sorry consumer, what are you going to do - go outside our massive state security apparatus into the car based hell we call “America” and find some decent food at a decent price? Of course not. You’re a captured market and you know it. Now pay $20 for a sandwich or else!”
I ended up trying McDonald’s for the first time in like 8 years (last ate it when I was in college) and it was just the most disgusting piss poor excuse for a meal I’ve ever had. Literally bottom of the barrel slop, worse than any other fast food restaurant I’ve been to.
capitalism no food
it’s terrible food
Good
the east has fallen
I thought Sixth Tone was shut down or am I confusing them with another site?
There was something last year about a foreign editor leaving/being forced out over covid reporting iirc, but the site’s not stopped posting.
