Like i don’t like comedy as as genre but when it mixes with action or thrillers it’s a complete shitshow. Characters make weird decisions , responds to the situation in stupid ways , characters cracking joke while someones losing their head , makes plot holes as in that’s so stupid no one would do that it’s only there to advance plot , makes remarks not suited to the situation all so they can sneak in some one liners or cringe jokes. There are aldready comedy movies let them enjoy that and let others enjoy other genres . Mixing comedy with other genres ruins an othervise good movie.

If you think about it in terms of ancient Greek plays, where everything is either a comedy or tragedy, then any genre can be either comedic or tragic. The setting plays more of a role in the genre than it being amusing or dramatic.

Western: 1 Million Ways to Die in the West

Sci-fi: Everything Everywhere All At Once

    Horror: Scary Movie

    Action: Pineapple Express

    Romance: When Harry Met Sally

    Fantasy: A Knight’s Tale

    Thriller: Clue: The Movie

Most movies I can even think of that are straight comedies with no other genres are typically “stoner films” like Grandma’s Boy and those tend to have even more nonsensical plots than the examples given above.

Just keep in mind that comedy is meant to entertain and delight; not necessarily tell a coherent story and almost never is intended to make sense. Absurdity itself is often funny because of the disconnect between what one expects and what actually happens or is said.
