Now action moves to Hungary, which is the last holdout on the Swedish application.

The Turkish parliament on Tuesday ratified Sweden’s bid to join NATO, with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan now expected to sign the accession.

Turkey’s move, which follows 20 months of diplomatic bargaining with Stockholm and Washington, leaves Hungary as the final NATO country still to proceed with Sweden’s bid to join the 31-member military alliance.

The ratification was adopted by the national assembly in a vote of 287 to 55.

“Today we are one step closer to becoming a full member of NATO,” tweeted Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.

Now the lone holdout is Hungary.

I have zero respect for either Turkey or Hungary on this issue as NATO members.
They have been acting decidedly against undisputed interests of an organisation they have joined freely. Denying Sweden entry was an act of treason against NATO, and is very disrespectful to all other members. They should be politically punished.

So hear me out, Hungary should really be severely punished. But, VW and BMW, Mercedes and recently BYD say no because cheap workers with nearly unlimited overtime, so they won’t be.

That’s not something they needed, that’s like saying we need a law allowing burning the Quran in Turkey. Both are nonsense, but at least the latter protects a right, while the former is merely dogma without reason.
