Should I be banned from women’s sports? I mean I’ve been through a male puberty which according to your criteria would seem to make it an immediate no, but I’m also 5’6 and for various reasons likely have a lower than average bone density. Would I be competing with an ‘unfair advantage’?
Then do we ban cis women who are tall or have a high bone density from women’s sports? Do we allow trans women who don’t have these advantages? Why single out trans people? If you judge that certain advantages are too much, why ban all trans people specifically?
I mean they just defederated from two of the biggest instances (including lemmy.world) and have the largest list of blocked instances of any instance
Not until the definition of the word “of” changes.
Well that’s what’s happening here isn’t it. It’s a word that is potentially gaining an additional use as a result of reanalysis. Whether it sticks around long term remains to be seen, but language is defined by usage and it’s foolish to pretend there’s such a thing as objectively correct. Already the use of the verb ‘to have’ to form the perfect in this case is quite different from it’s other meanings related to ‘to possess’. And that’s not even getting into you describing nonstandard usage as the result of ‘mush-mouthed laziness’ which is a whole nother can of worms.
ITT: Awful linguistics takes
People writing of instead of 've is pretty well attested before Siri even existed so I doubt that has much to do with it
Pretty sure it’s actually one of those mistakes that is made more often by native speakers than non-native speakers
SearXNG personally
The other thing is that Discord search is god awful. There’s absolutely no way to modify your search for better results, whether that’s to require something to appear exactly as typed, or to exclude certain results, it’s just you put in the words and hope you get the right thing. Sometimes that works out, but sometimes it will make the dumbest connections and render your search useless unless you want to trawl through pages of crap you don’t want. Like I’ve found out that Discord considers the words universal, universe, and university to be the same…
I am the newer generations though
Is it just me that has literally never heard anyone bring up the colour of bubbles irl? Like I’ve seen people talk about it on the internet from time to time but never in the real world.
To be honest I haven’t played either
As far as Undertale goes at least even if maybe the design kind of looks like it’s designed to tap into 80’s nostalgia I really don’t get the impression that’s the main appeal for most people. The fandom thing is definitely true though, I’m glad I was young and chronically offline enough not to see any of that before I’d played the game through in its entirety
I can’t stand pretty much any kind of shooter. Is that mostly because I suck? Probably, but I still don’t like them.
I pronounce it as basically blow high
Aren’t the things that look like tabs usually buffers anyway? At least on my setup I think they are (been a while since I did my nvim config)
