No but I don’t like how much people try to pretend like like the US isn’t still getting just about everything it wants. Like saying that Israel is losing in any way is clearly false because they’re literally carrying out the genocide with nothing more than finger wagging as repercussions. The US is doing new evil stuff every day and there isn’t any sign that’s going to be impeded in any way.
Pretending the US is “declining” is just a way for people in the West to feel like we don’t have to do anything or aren’t complicit.
But the US isn’t getting everything it wants and it is in decline. It’s flipping its shit as China continues to slowly eclipse it economically. Its loss of its proxy war in Ukraine (that it was so certain it was going to win) is imminent. Its iron-gripped stranglehold on South America is weakening while it’s having to cannibalize its vassals in Europe just to try to maintain falling rates of profit. All of this (and more) is a clear indication of the emergence of a multipolar world that the US thought it could prevent from ever happening. Israel also can’t survive without a strong US supporting it, and there is a real possibility this (inshallah!) could be its terminal crisis. These are conclusions that many communists analyzing the situation from a materialist framework have come to, and that doesn’t mean they’re trying to dismiss the west’s complicity. Pointing these things out doesn’t make the genocide that the US and Israel are perpetrating any less heinous or that that genocide will end up being any less thorough. It definitely doesn’t mean that any thinking, feeling person should not be doing everything in their power to stop the genocide.
These are all completely valid points but I do think we should consider that the US, the seat of global imperialism, has many tricks up its sleeve just from its largess and various financial schemes set up over decades and decades. We are seeing the birthing pains of a multipolar world order, 100%, but that world order continues to be shackled to the US dollar and there are new imperialist motions to counter that world order, or at least hedge bets against it, via onshoring for key sectors, stripping Europe for parts, and attempting to move peripheral countries into US-centric manufacturing centers. This plus the US’ militarism and relentless pressure campaigns means that history has returned and we will likely see large changes and more wars as the US Empire flails.
You put “declining” in quotes but haven’t watched the video. I’d be interested in your take on Michael West’s 14min analysis, rather than just of the title of the video.
The IOF is getting its ass handed to them by the Resistance. The Resistance has already decolonized the northern parts of Palestine that are at the Palestine-Lebanon border. It certainly isn’t business as usual.
