I don’t understand articles or titles like these. RedBull just made a good car and have a good driver and are reaping benefits of their hardwork. Why all the hate? Mercedes was dominating for 7 years. They had a good car and driver then so they were the best. So is RedBull now. Is it wrong to be good at something?

There is such good racing and competition happening behind. Why not enjoy that? Teams will eventually catch up and things will normalize.

Like the other commenter said should FIA start banning teams that win 5 or more races in a row?

Why is Max winning boring either? I like seeing how teams are closing up on them or ifl they will make a mistake. But they are a well oiled machine and I appreciate them for that.

exactly, it’s such shitty framing. why not make an article saying, “how amazing this season would be if anyone made a car as good as Red Bull.”

Probably a consequence of how the world is. Instead of being positive, framing something in the negative gets more views and revenue. They could have worded it so much better but they chose this headline.

Mhm, the sport would be amazing without teams that are really good at it.

FIA should introduce a 5 race ban for teams that win more than two races in a row. And rename the sport to Formula M, for mediocre.

    /s, if it wasn’t obvious.

I feel bad for people watching F1 that only care about who finishes 1st. There is so much exciting racing going on between every other team. 2021 is the exception, not the rule.

If anything, the competition has been more exciting this season with multiple teams reaching podiums - Aston Martin, Ferrari, Mercedes and McLaren. The reason why Max lead is so significant is because the distribution of points within other teams is fairly even.

We’re just back in the Vettel era of Red Bull. Did we get stupid articles like this when Mercedes was absolutely dominant for 7 whole years too? Or the Schumacher years? Go tell Ferrari to get their head out of their ass and make an actually good car so someone else can challenge.

I think a lot of it is purely because there are more fans now because of DtS, etc. They haven’t lived through an era of domination like this before so it is all new I guess.

Personally, I don’t mind it. It is part of the sport for me. I’m just happy my favourite team are doing better this year! :)

I must be missing something here. The article never seems to answer the obvious question. Why exactly are you writing an article about what it would be like without red bull? Is there something wrong with winning a lot? Isn’t this the nature of competition? Big companies do this everywhere in racing. Why does it matter more now with red bull?

I entertain myself by just not looking at Verstappen and watching the rest of the field duke it out. Alonso, Leclerc, Norris, and even piastri lately have made for great entertainment

That’s more or less what the article is saying. It’s pointing out how competitive the rest of the field is, and more competitive than in other years too. Saying that the rest of the field is competitive vs the championship would be competitive without red bull is saying the same thing.

People will tell you racing is about winning, but it’s not. Championships are about winning. Racing is about the action on the track.

Who are we (fans in general) to tell a team and drivers who did everything right and are literally pulling of a (AFAIK) historic sweep of the season “you should let someone else take a turn winning”. That’s such “baby sister” energy. We can do better.

I understand. I posted a comment here about the article you posted…that’s what we do around here?

EDIT: Oh I see. That was the royal ‘you’. I’m referring to the author.

I would guess it’s too remind everyone that if it weren’t for the combination of a team getting the rules right, a poor decision to try to nerf them by raising ride-height gone terribly wrong and one the most talented driver driving for the best team, this season would be entirely unpredictable and everyone would say the new regulations are delivering what they promised.

I don’t understand this community, so many people complaining about how boring this season is with Redbull winning all the time, and then being told that it is actually really exciting if you look at the competition between the rest of the grid. Then someone posts an article about how exciting the racing is between the rest of the grid and everyone bitches about it.
