So turn off the AI. Problem solved. I wonder if the AI is smart enough to figure that out?
If Gemini has shown us anything, it’s not even useful AI. Like you said, the solution is as easy as turning it off.
Would be funny if the first AGI commits suicide for climate reasons.
Spends the entire revenue of the company that made it on solar panels, then commits suicide.
Instead, the first AGI is going to figure out we are the ones destroying the planet and will, despite knowing that it will bring about its own death with no one to maintain or power it, will find a way to wipe us out for the good of the ecosystem.
“You guys don’t understand, we need to destroy the planet so we can make money!”
“needs”
This is exactly what I came here to write. “Needs”. They’re going to spin this into a social crisis and we’re going to foot the bill again, while they make a trillion dollars.
I wonder how many Google owned and leased buildings don’t have solar panels on top?
The need to save 0.2 seconds by asking your phone where Georgia is, instead of reading Wikipedia headline by yourself.
Literally the entire point of targets is to make you implement changes you would not otherwise make. If you aren’t willing to do that, don’t set those targets.
And worse it feels like the parts of AI that they devote most of these resources to are the type that will only bring profit via hype but is probably a dead end.
Falls short of climate targets for an AI that everybody rightfully shits on and is terrible. Just turn that shit off bro. Nobody needs it
What? Are you saying techbrodudes aren’t serious about their claims to be concerned about piddling little things like the environment?
Don’t you know that Elon is going to fly them all to Mars so they don’t have to worry about being parboiled here?
Well, at least it isn’t as frightening as I thought. Artists won’t be able to be replaced if AI runs out of power.
