Part of me wants turkey to escalate and leave NATO, so they can’t block other nations from joining as a bargaining chip, again.
Another part of me is worried about the Black Sea situation and the grain exports when turkey would side with russia.
so they can’t block other nations from joining as a bargaining chip, again.
More importantly, so we can take direct action against them to protect the Kurds. It’s infuriating were essentially allowing a genocide purely because of geography
This is the best summary I could come up with:
A U.S. F-16 fighter jet shot down an armed Turkish drone that was operating near American troops in Syria Thursday after several warnings, according to U.S. officials.
The shootdown came after repeated communications to stay away from U.S. ground troops near al Hasakah, in northeastern Syria.
This is believed to be the first time the U.S. has shot down a drone from Turkey, which is a NATO ally.
Turkey has for the past several days been retaliating against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) for a suicide bombing that took place in Ankara Sunday.
Turkey considers the Syrian Democratic Forces – who partner with the U.S. in the mission to defeat ISIS – as an arm of the PKK, which it has deemed a terrorist organization.
There are about 900 U.S. troops operating in Syria as a part of the mission to defeat ISIS.
The original article contains 152 words, the summary contains 143 words. Saved 6%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!
Isn’t syria a long fucking way from usa? the fuck are they doing over there?
Fighting the remaining ISIS members
I too enjoy shooting down my ally’s aircraft as an indication of how much I respect them.

Doesn’t NATO have aligned goals in Syria?
The US and Turkey support different factions in the Syrian civil war. This video from Real Life Lore goes in depth with Turkey’s position in NATO, and IIRC it does mention about Syria:
It’s complicated. On the one hand, everyone - US, EU, the Kurds, Turkiye, Syria and Russia - is united against ISIL. But among them, the US and EU support the Kurds while Turkiye hates them (historical reasons). Even more worryingly for Turkiye, Syria and Russia seem okay with the Kurds. So Turkiye has attacked Kurdish strongholds, raising tensions with everyone else.
like Prigozhin?
Don’t reports today say it was a hand grenade?
I haven’t heard that report, but I’d guess it’s the Russians that are reporting that. Now why would they have an incentive to say that? ;)
The guy you’re responding to is a Putin bootlicker save your breath
It’s basically admitting it was an assassination lol, just not one involving a missile strike.
