Some things in my life are suddenly starting to make sense.
This goes deeper than you think I’d say as an outside observer of US society. For example in politics, whenever Kamala Harris talks about issues that primarily effect black men such as the criminal justice system, she frames them as women’s issues! Its just wild to me that the US still appears to be stuck in this mentality.
Wild that the “cheat code” here isn’t actually an unfair advantage, it’s a route to being treated with minimum basic human decency without being punished for asking for it. Congrats on successfully navigating our stupid racist society.

In this situation, a white woman cried racism, and bystanders and staff believed her. Do you think bystanders would consistently give that same level of trust and support if it were a black or brown woman instead?

Yes, the cocktail of racism and sexism is somewhat unpredictable, but we can say that in OP’s case the pretty white woman was taken more seriously than the black man, and more importantly in this case, not assumed to be violent for racist reasons. There are other situations where the cocktail would work out differently.

There’s a hierarchy with different levels. It usually goes like this, but money makes things a bit more variable and will put you higher up on the totem pole.
White men > white women > colored men > colored women
You can add more demographics but this is the general race relationship that tracks back to early colonial America.
During Jim Crow all it would take for you to lynched is a white woman accusing you of rape if you’re a black male.
They’re not saying that white women are worshipped, only that people with power take them more seriously, particularly if they’re yelling at other people. When a black person (specifically often black men) are confronting white people for being shitty, cops / enforcers are WAAAAAAAY more likely to escalate the situation and make everything worse.

My partner is a very very conventionally attractive white woman who looks very eastern euro (blonde hair blue eyes) and I’ve heard some extremely weird shit from non-nazis.
