What was the moment you realized mr phil was a quack? For me it was when he had a man on the show who hit back after his wife assaulted him, and phil threatened to have the man arrested on stage if he got up and left while he was being humiliated and berated with things like: “there’s no reason to ever hit a woman, not even if she has a knife” and “you’re a coward” and “you’re scum”.

That man was a victim of long term domestic violence and snapped, but instead of helping him phil exploited him in his moment of weakness.

That’s some dumbass sexist bullshit which was/is wrong on so many levels. First, it degrades women by equating them all with “delicate flowers” who are supposedly incapable of doing any damage. Second, it implies that domestic violence is acceptable, or at least not as serious, if a woman is the abuser and that a man, supposing the victim is a man, should not be allowed to defend himself. For normal people, not to mention someone who sells himself as a sort of therapist, that’s some fucked up logic.

As a general rule, nobody should be hitting anyone else. Gender is irrelevant. If someone is assaulting you, and you are unable to get away, then you should absolutely fight back until your attacker stops attacking you. Once again, gender is irrelevant. The fact that “Dr.” Phil’s tiny little brain can’t comprehend that is simply mind boggling.

        Yes

        Gender is irrelevant.

Well yes and no. Gender is a social construct. You probably mean “(biological) sex,” which is very relevant.

For me, it was when he had a woman on his show who had gained a significant amount of weight, after being sexually assaulted multiple times, in order to appear more unattractive to men. Dr. Phil told her to lose weight, and to stop “letting men use your body as a playground.”

While I agree with you he is scum of the earth, he does hold a doctorate, meaning he can call himself doctor.

Exposing people for what they are is most effective if there is nothing in your story that people can use as “See? You’re wrong about this one thing so you must be wrong about everything”.

He is scum and exploits people, and I wish he would just go away.

Either you’re misinformed or just straight up lying.

For most of his career, Peterson maintained a clinical practice, seeing about 20 people a week. He has been active on social media, and in September 2016 he released a series of videos in which he criticized Bill C-16.[22][53][54] As a result of new projects, he decided to put the clinical practice on hold in 2017[55] and temporarily stopped teaching as of 2018.[19][17] In February 2018, Peterson entered into a promise with the College of Psychologists of Ontario after a professional misconduct complaint about his communication and the boundaries he sets with his patients. The college did not consider a full disciplinary hearing necessary and accepted Peterson entering into a three-month undertaking to work on prioritizing his practice and improving his patient communications. Peterson had no prior disciplinary punishments or restrictions on his clinical practice.[56][57] In 2023, the college ordered Peterson to undergo social media communication coaching, following concerns about his public comments.[58][59] Peterson denied any wrongdoing and filed for judicial review.[60][58]

I always find it weird when people repost this acting as if Dr. Phil wouldn’t have been in on the whole situation. It’s not like the show was aired live, or that the guy wouldn’t have had to been approved to go out on stage dressed like that by likely at least a dozen people, and Phil would definitely have been told in advance. So the guy was allowed to do it by Phil and the staff, and then the episode was edited and allowed to air, all for ratings.

could also be angry staffers like what happened to james cordon when he couldnt even name a camera man after being asked (or maybe that was live idk but his staffers wrote the question). maybe too many witnesses saw it and not airing it would look shit or the network demanded an episode

But if you do that, even if you see few or no patients, you have to get malpractice insurance

It has something called a tail clause, so once you retire from medicine you’re covered from any former patients - if you keep your license, you have to keep paying

The likelihood that he didn’t know he was going to do this, even if perhaps it was a surprise on the day, seems pretty low. He allowed him to do it. I really don’t believe the guy showed up dressed ina Dr Phil costume, presumably hours before taping, and was able to sit around in the green room and go past all the producers and make it on set if this was going to be a real problem for them. Doubtless if they didn’t contrive the entire thing themselves then they likely saw it as a gift.

If I recall Dr Phil refused to interview him, and made a big show of kicking him off the set. On the face of it this makes him look bad and seems to prove the guy’s point. I guess he either thought he’d still appear high and mighty by refusing to indulge him, (yet suspiciously waiting until he’s literally on stage to do it) despite the apparent statement it made. Or maybe they figured it would just make such good ratings that it really didn’t matter if you allowed him to make a negative commentary about Dr Phil that probably goes over most of the audience’s head because the visuals alone would draw people in and could be milked for the program trailers.

Internet memes have always been a specific format. Quit with dictionary definition bullshit. You don’t get comic strips and Tumblr screenshots when you search for “meme” on Google.

Quit excusing lazy, no effort crap dumped into one community when communities for comics, unedited screenshots and photos, and all of the other junk posts that are dumped here for mindless upvotes instead of spreading content to several communities that need more engagement.

Sending a kid to a ranch, or rehab facility, or “camps” isn’t direct violence. If I send my kids to summer camp, I’m not punching them in the face. There is a difference… and the fact that you can’t identify that and 4 other people upvoted you speaks about our current societies problems.

Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t realize that kids who are struggling to find where they fit in the world and have a family network that isn’t helping them with that struggle deserve to go to a cult indoctrination camp to be tortured. I guess physical and psychological torture doesn’t count as direct violence either. Cool, cool cool cool

But if you direct people to forcibly take a kid to a camp that uses face punching as a “therapeutic” treatment, while endorsing said camp with your national platform…

Technically that might not be “direct” violence, but it is pretty direct indirect violence.

I think you are not aware how troubled teen industry is run at least in the US. Just so you are aware that they are places full of physical, sexual and mental abuse. It is like you sent your kids to a camp but instead of summer camp, it was a refugee or concentration camp.
